NASA just landed a rover on Mars, this is the very first picture.  This JUST happened minutes ago. 1:42am EST 8/6/2012 Uhh what? lol this is an old picture dubbed “sunset on Mars” and it was not taken by Curiosity. This was slightly altered in filters to look a little different from the original one which was taken on May 19th 2005 and more information can be found either here on my blog, or NASA’s official catalog page here. If you’re looking for actual first pictures (which aren’t as cool looking as the above because the images were taken with a different camera holding fewer resolution — not to worry, the rover will send more/ better images soon) you can find those actual pics here.
