Venus Meets Pleiades
In the evening sky of southeastern Spain seashores, near Cartagena, planet Venus is photographed against the Pleiades star cluster in a rare close conjunction. Click on the star-pattern icon above the image to view another framing of this scene. Also known as the Seven Sisters, even the brightest naked-eye Pleiades stars are over a thousand times fainter than Venus, our closest planetary neighbor. — Gernot Meiser
