Undocumented immigrants are scapegoats. It’s that simple. They’re another scapegoat being used by the failing capitalist system that’s banking on people’s racism and ignorance to keep people from seeing what the real problem is: capitalism.

as a person of color, you’re a lot likelier to be seen as less than in most places you go to in western society. not a myth. a rarely spoken of, reality. happens on and offline. hell, take tumblr for instance, how they used their awesome promoting strength to show how sandy struck NY and a few states and completely left out what happened in the caribbeans. none of the brooklyn protesting is really promoted by the officials around here. I get that you’re trying to go for a balanced atmosphere but seriously? silencing whole minorities each time? Is our existence such a nuisance? That our casualties and families are always going to be outsiders to your community? And it’s like anyone who’s in a perfect position to make huge shifts in how we’red view, doesn’t seem to ever really be up to the task. Really interesting. In a really fucked up way.

The Obama administration has established an undeniably harsh record on immigration and border enforcement, including:

  • Record-breaking deportations of more than 1.5 million individuals in his first term (more than in any other single presidential term), almost half of whom had no criminal records, leaving hundreds of thousands of U.S. citizen children without parents and in foster care
  • Unprecedented detention levels of immigrants (429,000 in the last fiscal year), using a record number of detention beds (34,000) – without individualized assessment of who requires jail-like detention – at a wasteful cost of $2 billion annually
  • Nationwide deployment of the Department of Homeland Security’s Secure Communities program, despite opposition of many state and local leaders based on damage to community policing and public safety, rising fear among victims and witnesses of crime, and racial profiling.
  • Continuation of the controversial DHS 287(g) program that deputizes state and local police to enforce federal immigration laws when immigration enforcement is a federal matter, as the litigation against Arizona’s racial profiling law SB 1070 reinforced.
  • Historically high enforcement resources along the Southwest border, leading to manifold abuses by Customs and Border Protection including a series of fatal shootings
  • Record spending on border and interior enforcement such that Rep. Hal Rogers, Chairman of the House Appropriations Committee, identified a “mini industrial complex” of bloated border spending

The ACLU has strongly criticized the administration’s record in this area, including our full-page New York Times ad published following the president’s re-election. As a result of the administration’s harsh enforcement policies, immigrant communities nationwide have suffered permanent deportation and family separation.

This has occurred despite these policies being unnecessary – unauthorized immigration rates and border apprehensions have plummeted to the lowest level in 40 years, and new census data released last week confirm a sustained drop in unauthorized immigration. Furthermore, as we highlighted in an earlier post, these enforcement policies are fiscally irresponsible.

It’s important that we all understand the truth about the administration’s record on immigration enforcement and call on it to end its abusive, discriminatory, and wasteful programs.

Today in What The Entire Fuck: School Forces Pregnancy Tests on Girls, Kicks Out Students Who Refuse or Are Pregnant
In a Louisiana public school, female students who are suspected of being pregnant are told that they must take a pregnancy test. Under school policy, those who are pregnant or refuse to take the test are kicked out and forced to undergo home schooling.
Welcome to Delhi Charter School, in Delhi, Louisiana, a school of 600 students that does not believe its female students have a right to education free from discrimination. According to its Student Pregnancy Policy, the school has a right to not only force testing upon girls, but to send them to a physician of the school administration’s choice. A positive test result, or failure to take the test at all, means administrators can forbid a girl from taking classes and force her to pursue a course of home study if she wishes to continue her education with the school.
This is in blatant violation of federal law and the U.S. Constitution.

This one goes out to all those people who think that just because discrimination is illegal and this kind of forced invasion of privacy is illegal, that it somehow doesn’t still happen fucking CONSTANTLY.

Eerily reminds me of the Salem witch trials except without the batshit crazy people with sticks and stones. These folks are more subtle, looking for ways to strip the power of freedom from women.

One in five people stopped last year by the New York City police department was a teenager between the ages of 14 and 18, according to a WNYC analysis of recently released police data.

And there were more than 120,000 stops of black and Latino kids between 14 and 18. The total number of black and Latino boys that age in the entire city isn’t much more than that – about 177,000 – which strongly suggests a teen male with dark skin in New York City will probably get stopped and frisked by the time he’s graduated from high school.

Yep, that’d be an accurate gpoy. Not white? get frisked.

The slaying of Lawrence King has alarmed gay rights activists and led to demands that middle schools do more to educate youngsters about discrimination.

Prosecutors are scrambling to arrange another trial for a teenager who shot and killed a gay classmate after the first ended in a mistrial.

What the fuck is this? What about the parents? Gay hate is almost always taught at home. It doesn’t just come to fruition in schools. I hate how it’s always on the educators to do the parents bidding.

"When you cut facilities, slash jobs, abuse power, discriminate, drive people into deeper poverty and shoot people dead whilst refusing to provide answers or justice, the people will rise up and express their anger and frustration if you refuse to hear their cries. A riot is the language of the unheard."

Atrocious.. of the school and law that is.

This is unbelievable. We need to start keeping a community watch on Police officers at all times!

Agreed but…Look, we all have cell phones with cameras. Despite this, nothing changes. They just beat us harder. They just let the cop out of jail who murdered Oscar Grant. That murder was caught on several cell phones and presented as evidence. He was out in less than a year.

Apple has now created technology to block cell phone video recording. Guess who is going to have that tech in the squad car?

This happened to a guy here in Olympia as well. His name is Scott. He was dumpstering down town. The cops came up on him and told him to stop and started asking him questions. Scott cannot speak and so must use either sign language (which the cop couldn’t understand) or writing on a note pad (which the cop grabbed out of his hand thinking he was going to disrespect him by communicating that way). He called in back up and beat the shit out of Scott.

In related news, as most people know, a deaf Native wood carver was shot to death last summer in Seattle. He couldn’t hear the cop tell him to drop the ‘weapon’ and thought it a valid response to shoot him.

In London during the education demonstrations/riots this past winter, the LPD dragged an activist with cerebral palsy out of his wheel chair and beat him.. not just once during the coarse of the demonstration but twice.

these are 4 examples of police brutality towards those impaired. There are hundreds of other cases of this, i’m sure. THis really needs to be brought to light more.

FTP That’s the only thing that comes to mind when I’m raging at things like this.
